HOW TO MEND A BROKEN HEART

How To Mend A Broken Heart – by Gerry Albert – I painted this as a gift for my mother about eight or nine years ago. A year after my Dad died I presented this to my Mom on the day that would have been their 36th Anniversary. It’s a simple painting on canvas done with various acrylics. After my dad passed away in 2003, my Mom was in a very sad place emotionally. I painted this for her in the hopes that it might make her feel a little bit better; but in creating it, I started to resolve some of my own unresolved feelings of my dad. Although it was intended as a talisman for my mother, this painting means a lot to me as well. Possibly the most emotional piece I’ve worked on.

  1. The painting speaks volumes. I connected with it right away just as much for the story behind it (I lost my mother at age 15) and because of the imagery. Thanks for sharing.
